I need to gather $6,000 together to help a handicapped retired police officer remodel his home. The officer was wounded over 20 years ago by three gang members in the Los Angeles area during a restaurant robbery. During the shootout he was paralyzed from the mid-chest down. Since the shootout he has lost his wife and now lives alone and virtually without care. I have helped him over the years and spent several thousand dollars of mine doing some remodeling of his home to allow him better access in his wheelchair. Now his kitchen is in horrible shape and his carpets are tattered and torn. His Air Conditioner is leaking into the attic and creating a mold issue in the house. I am wanting to remodel the kitchen so it can be used by someone in a wheelchair and I want to put a laminate floor down through out the house so it will last a long time. Finally, I have to fix the air conditioning problem or he will soon have other major health problems. All the members of his former department have retired or moved on and he has been pretty much forgotten about. He doesn't get out much and I can only think of three people he personally knows that would help swing a hammer. Due to the current economy I cannot afford to pay for these needed repairs so I am asking for help. I will be doing most of the labor, I just need help getting money for the supplies.
